To produce wheat flour, each wheat needs to be first ground at a Gristmill, which requires 60 power, a worker to operate, and planks and gears to construct. The final variety of food grown from a farmhouse is wheat. Grilled potatoes satisfy hunger and Nutrition 2. While each square is slightly less productive than it would be with carrots, potatoes have the advantage of letting fewer farmers maintain a larger field due to the longer growth time. Once processed, a potato gives 4 grilled potatoes, so its 6 days of growth yields 4 food per square.

A grill must be used to cook the potatoes before consumption logs are used in its operation along with raw potatoes, plus an additional worker to operate the grill itself. Potatoes are the next kind of food that can be grown. Carrots satisfy hunger and carrot nutrition and sunflower seeds satisfy hunger along with sunflower seed nutrition. Carrot crops grow in 4 days and provide 3 carrots, while sunflowers grow in 5 days and provide 2 sunflower seeds. There are two foods that can be eaten raw: Carrots and Sunflower seeds. Farming allows access to the higher nutrition needs and allows a higher density of food production than berries do. While berries can feed a small colony, they don't have the output required to reasonably sustain a large population, nor do they satisfy the nutrition needs beyond base hunger. The farmhouse can plant and harvest either carrots, potatoes, wheat and/or sunflowers.
